I would be curious what the real underlying fear is. “Missing life” is a surface-level worry, but a Vipassana retreat is still “life.” It just may be different from one’s life routine.
I first experienced Vipassana in May 2023- side effects are that it completely changed my orientation and life. I am a huge advocate of this healing modality and believe it contributed tremendously to my brain rewiring dreams.
I really enjoyed your write-up from your retreat, Jeff. It shows that you understand the Buddhist concepts and can articulate them clearly. I hear you about taking notes - I wish I'd had them while writing my post. I was surprised that you mentioned my name and linked to my article. You're kind. I'm glad you had such a positive experience and that you look forward to longer retreats. Me too!
Thanks!
Nice report.
How would you respond to someone considering it but still skeptical about how to justify taking ten days away from "life?"

I love this response. I have convinced a few friends mostly because I won’t stop referring to it.
But most hesitate because it is 10 whole days?!
So many suffer from FOMO and dont know yet that this is a cure for an affliction they dont even know they have yet.
Thank you! Yes, I agree. 10 days is a drop in a bucket compared to the entirety of life and the healing power that such 10 days will bring.

Mine too, it was awesome.

Mentioning your name and linking to your article just seemed like the right thing to do. Keep up the great work!
Well, I'm grateful. You as well.
